Depending on environmental conditions and usage, you can expect between 6 to 8 months of beautiful surface colour and strong moisture + UV  protection.

Over time the sealer will start to lose its lustre and water beading capability. A fresh coat of JustTeak Teak Sealer should be applied to restore the finish.

For best results remove the Teak Sealer with JustTeak Cleaner and Brightener and reapply.

The difference between the Natural and Cleartone is indeed the level of pigmentation, leading to a difference in colour as seen here.

The Natural will last longer when exposed to the environment and greatly prolong the time until graying and discolouring.

It’s a unique penetrating sealer so you’ll find unlike other sealers it will not wear off as easily through foot traffic.

Yes it can. It’s absolutely safe for indoor tables, flooring and other pieces. It is also applied to many of the large indoor/outdoor areas of larger superyachts. However we suggest application of our sealer outside or in a very well ventilated area.

No, there are no effects on caulking from using the JustTeak System. At times, the caulking can feel “sticky” once the JustTeak system is applied, this is because the 2 part cleaning and scrubbing process and, to a lesser extent, the sealer will remove the light oxidization layer that forms on the caulking. Usually revealing fresh caulking that is not sticky.

However, when the caulking gets old it can become sticky even before you use anything on it, as it has already broken down from the years of environmental exposure. This needs re-caulking.

You also do not need to clean the caulking once the JustTeak Teak sealer is applied. It will just leave a thin transparent coating, which will age evenly over time.

JustTeak Cleaner and Brightener are safe for all external protective marine boat wrap films (such as 3M Vinyl Boat Films and Wraps). They will not damage the wraps as long as surfaces are rinsed immediately after application with fresh water.

Being a marine product, the products are safe for fibreglass when used as instructed. The most important thing with the Cleaner and Brightener is to not let it dry on the surface of the boat. For large areas you will need to do 1 section at a time.

The sealer will not damage fibreglass. However, it is best to tape off any areas that may get sealer on them in order to make clean up easier.

Yes! JustTeak is great for protecting all teak, including outdoor furniture and decking.

Application of the JustTeak system, for more info see our Technical Data Sheet.

Protect surfaces being cleaned that could be damaged, such as polished metal, especially aluminium. Ensure easy access to a water supply.

Part 1: Teak Cleaner

  1.  Hose down entire area with water. 2. Ensure the teak does not dry during the cleaning process. 3. Applying the Teak Cleaner with a soft polypropylene cleaning pad, gently scrub the product across the grain of the teak. The teak will tum dark brown and the cleaning pad will fill with dirt. 4. Apply to one area at a time then immediately rinse down entire area with water to remove the cleaner. Repeat if necessary.

Part 2: Teak Brightener

  1. Following the application of Part 1: Teak Cleaner.
  2. Hose down entire area with water.
  3. Ensure the teak does not dry during the cleaning process.
  4. Apply Teak Brightener with a soft polypropylene cleaning pad, gently scrubbing across the grain of the teak. The teak will immediately lighten in colour.
  5. Apply to one area at a time then immediately rinse down entire area with water to remove the Teak Brightener. Repeat if necessary.

Part 3: Teak Sealer

PREPARATION

  1. For freshly sanded teak: Ensure teak is clean of dust and dirt before application.
  2. Weathered and previously coated teak: Clean with JustTeak Teak Cleaner and Teak Brightener to remove previous coatings, dirt and deposits that have turned teak grey, and restore natural colour.
  3. Allow teak to dry thoroughly before applying Teak Sealer.

APPLICATION

  1. For best results apply in temperatures above 10°C (50°F) on a sunny, low humidity day, ensuring the teak is dry. Shake vigorously prior to use. This product must be shaken periodically whilst using to ensure even colouring.
  2. Apply the sealer by either brush, pad applicator or rag. Take note to apply sealer along the length of the board to ensure even coating and avoid line marks.
  3. Apply generously. Allow to dry, soak up any areas that may have not absorbed the sealer. When touch dry, apply 1-2 subsequent coats until the teak stops absorbing the sealer.
  4. To clean equipment and spills simply use white spirits or xylene.

Apply 2-3 coats. Saturate the surface and wipe off the excess. The first coat will penetrate, the next 2 coats will penetrate less.

There are numerous differences between JustTeak Teak Sealer and Teak Oils, paints and varnishes.

JustTeak Teak Sealer incorporates much newer technology that penetrates the surface, bonding to and stabilising the teak; giving strong protection against the weathering effects of UV radiation, sunlight, pollution and salt water, JustTeak Teak Sealer does not need to be reapplied as often as oil. Once applied, JustTeak Teak Sealer will coat your teak without leaving a heavy continuous film on the wood surface like a varnish or paint. Varnishes and paints provide better protection compared to teak oil, but can be difficult to apply, maintain and disguises the natural textures of the teak surface.

By contrast, teak oil has been used on boats and teak wood furniture for 100’s of years but leaves an inferior surface finish and does not last anywhere near as long. Teak oils are usually made of linseed oil with extra additives mixed in, the oil soaks into the wood and accentuates the grain and colour but it is very high maintenance.

Further, teak oil does not protect the wood, but it merely recovers the rich appearance that teak wood can offer. This method requires multiple coats of oil and the finish does not last long, with sunlight and UV rays damaging the oils, turning the wood finish dark and grey over time.

Sealers are different from oils because they do not add more oils or resins. Instead, they seal in the natural oils and resins that the existing wood contains while at the same time preventing contaminants and moisture from invading and harming it.

Yes. The JustTeak™ Cleaner and Brightener meets the 2018 Guidelines within Annex V of MARPOL (International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships): Cleaning agents and additives in deck and external surfaces wash water. Therefore, they are Non-hazardous to the marine environment.

The JustTeak™ System can be used on all types of timbers. Whilst it is primarily designed for teak, the system can be used on many other hardwood timber species.
